Sometimes the perks of a job are what keeps us with the company we work for.
If you’re a barman it’s the free food and beer, whilst for flight crews it’s the free trips for friends and family. But if you work in an office, what perks do you look for?
A new survey by workplace designers Maris Interiors reveals that only 16% of us are incentivised by perks. Offering half-day Fridays appears to be the most popular perk – giving employees a few extra hours to their weekends.
Other popular perks include on-site fitness facilities, being allowed to wear casual dress, and free lunches. More exotic benefits include free massages and ‘nap areas’ – which might not be as absurd as they sound: 79% of those surveyed said they’d be more likely to stay in their current job if there were more perks offered.
Maris Interiors Managing Director David Cannon says “This is something we take very seriously at Maris – we take pride in attracting and then retaining the very best staff. We throw money behind the bar every payday and we take the entire company on a holiday every year. But the biggest perk of all – it’s the people they get to work with!”
