According to Maris’ new survey…
Uncomfortable commutes, expensive housing and high-pressure offices aren’t enough to stop London office workers from being the happiest in the country. Over 51% of the Capital’s office staff said they were happy, around 10% higher than the happiness levels enjoyed outside of the M25.
However, there’s good news for the country as a whole too, with happiness levels up from a low of 36.5% in 2011. It looks as though we’re all getting steadily happier, at least at work. The survey also looked into the reasons for this boost in cheer. Last year Londoners enjoyed a slight increase in their salaries, a little more than was seen across the UK. Surprisingly there was a rise in job vacancies over 2012, especially in the capital.
“This is great news,” says David Cannon, Managing Director of workplace designers Maris Interiors. “London always gets a bit of a bad press for being quite a stressful place to work, but there’s nowhere quite like it – restaurants, bars, theatres… I can’t Maris moving out of London any time soon!”
