Despite the growing popularity of telecommuting, the traditional office is here to stay.
This is according to a new survey by workplace designers Maris Interiors.
63% of people say they’re more productive and focussed in the office, away from the distractions of television and napping that home working offers. 58% say they enjoy the social aspect of work, rising to 79% amongst employees under the age of 30.
And no-one is predicting the office’s demise any time soon either. 88% of those surveyed said they expected the bricks-and-mortar (but more likely glass) office to last at least another 50 years.
David Cannon, Managing Director of Maris Interiors, says, “Well, this is good news for Maris, anyway. And seriously I do think people will always need to meet up somewhere and work face-to-face with their colleagues. Not to mention the access to free tea and coffee!”
