Whilst most of us want to be successful in our careers, a recent survey shows that very few people want to run the company they currently work at.
According to workplace designers Maris Interiors, only 5% would like to be the boss of their current business. 14% would want to eventually run another company in their sector and 28% “wouldn’t want the stress”. Surprisingly however, 42% of workers surveyed said that they would be happiest running a company they set up themselves.
“The traditional route of progression seems to be dying out,” says David Cannon, Managing Director of Maris Interiors. “People don’t want to just gradually move up the ladder in an industry, especially not within the same company. I’m proud to have been at the same firm for twenty years, but clearly today’s graduates are more interested in being the next Mark Zuckerberg.”
