Maris Complete HQ Office Design and Fit-Out for Age UK

April 2011

Age UK are delighted with the office design and office fit-out that Maris Interiors have completed at their new headquarters at Tavis House, 1-6 Tavistock Square, London, WC1H.

Age UK, the amalgamation of Age Concern and Help the Aged, now occupy all 8 floors of the building, totalling 57,000 square feet, and the property forms the new hub for this recently formed charity.

After the submission of 5 individual planning applications, all approved on schedule, Maris handed over the refurbished office building within the 22 week programme and on budget. Maris and Age UK celebrated with an official ceremony, including the cutting of the ribbon by the CEO and Head of Trustees.

Maris carried out an extensive scope of office fitting out and refurbishment works to transform the building into the functional, professional workspace desired by the Client and avoided unnecessary costs throughout the project by resusing materials and recycling. The ground floor encompasses a conference suite, cafeteria and new entrance lobby, with the above floors housing both cellular and open plan office space.

The office building also now benefits from 415 new windows, new internal heating and cooling to each floor and a total power upgrade including a new EDF transformer and over 2,500 cat 5e data cables.

Maris’ Project Director commented, “Our internal team have greatly enjoyed working with such a committed charity. Over our 1 year association with Age UK, we have developed close professional relationships, and personal bonds with various individuals – we will genuinely miss our weekly meetings!”.
