Office Design and Fit-Out for Drax Power in London
January 2010
Drax Power Limited has appointed Maris Interiors to undertake the office design and office fit-out of their new PLC head office at 41 Moorgate, London, EC2.
Drax Power Limited are the owner and operator of the Drax Power Station and the foremost single energy provider in they UK,Based in Selby, North Yorkshire.
Drax required a high quality workplace facility to service their London based clients and also a ‘touch down’ base for their staff.
Maris initially carried out workplace analysis and space plans on 2 buildings to assist Drax in their choice before finally settling on Moorgate in the core of the City of London’s financial district.
Currently in serviced offices that no longer meet their requirements, Drax needed an open plan office in which their staff can ‘hot-desk’ during visits to London. The new office at 41 Moorgate will include 3 Executive Offices along with 2 Meeting Rooms, 1 Boardroom and an amazing high specification Front of House area complete with walnut entrance doors.
Maris were chosen from 3 fit-out providers due to their excellent workplace design concept and their understanding of the client’s fit-out requirements. Maris has recently commenced works on the 6,000 sq ft space on a 4 week fast-track programme.
Maris' Project Director commented, “When our Senior Workplace Designer and I visited the power station at Selby, we were highly impressed by the top grade quality offices that Drax had provided for their operational staff. Drax expressed a desire to emulate this at their new London offices and our workplace design solution gave the synergy they required between the two sites.
Our ‘click’ with the Drax Power meant we got the office design right first time and due to the speedy delivery required, our Workplace Design Team forewent a considerable amount of their Christmas holiday to prepare the working drawings necessary for the Construction team to start early in the New Year and deilver this fast-track office fit-out project in record time.”
