Age UK Appoint Maris for HQ Office Design and Fit-Out

October 2010

Maris Interiors is delighted to announce their forthcoming partnership with Age UK to undertake the office design, office refurbishment and office relocation to Age UK's new headquarters at Tavis House, 1-6 Tavistock Square, London.

Age UK, the amalgamation of Age Concern and Help the Aged, are to occupy the whole building, totalling 57,000 sq ft over 8 floors. The project, due to start this month, is scheduled to complete in March 2011.

The scope of works is extensive and will transform this tired office building, dragging it into the 21st Century. The brief was to create a functional / professional workspace encompassing a conference suite and cafeteria on the ground floor with cellular and open plan office space above. Sensitive discussions with Camden Planning Department were required, with 5 individual planning applications being submitted. These have been granted and allow for 400 new windows to be installed, an entrance lobby, new air conditioning system and power upgrade for the building.

The Works were secured by Maris partially due to a non-sales approach being adopted and the concentration on technical solutions. This enabled Maris to bring added value to the project from the beginning.

Maris’ Project Director commented, “Each office design and office fit-out project has it challenges and this is no exception. From the outset, we identified these challenges and agreed with Age UK how each could be overcome with potential risks managed. As we enter the construction phase we are reaping the benefits of our close relationship with Age UK and thorough planning. We look forward to the completion of this prestigious office refurbishment project”.
