London Office Relocation for Alaska Metals
December 2009
Alaska Metals, a leading global trader of aluminum and alumina, has appointed Maris Interiors to undetake their office relocation to 25 Berkley Square, Mayfair, London, W1.
Maris Interiors are scheduled to begin the fast-track office fit-out works to the 5,550 sq ft space on 30th November 2009 with a testing handover date just 5 weeks later on the 15th January 2009.
Initially Alaska Metals selected an architect to help them with their office design and fit-out but with timescales so tight they lost confidence that the scheme would be delivered on time to their high standards.
Alaska Metals had already selected the office building when they first met with Maris and little thought had gone into the suitability of the office space making this project challenging from the start.
Maris were given 24 hours to produce a proposal which in turn lead to a swift appointment for to produce a full office design, office fit-out and office furniture services submission.
Following a review Maris were awarded the project with Arcadis APS being appointed as an external Project Manager.
A top of the range security system was imperative to Alaska as well as a robust IT infrastructure, particularly on the trading floor. The brief was to create an impressive high end specification front of house using stone flooring and bespoke joinery. The office building is listed and the ornate fibrous plaster detailing and period features are complimented by the overall contemporary design. The trading floor has been designed to cater for an imminent expansion.
Maris' Project Director commented,“Open communication and an excellent working relationship with Alaska Metals has made this demanding office fit-out and office relocation project an enjoyable experience. The construction works saddle the Christmas period adding to the challenge of a normal fast track project”.
