Travelex

Client Background

Over 40% of the world’s travellers – 1.7 billion passengers a year – pass through airports where Travelex operates. Its main businesses are international payments, bureaux de change and issuing prepaid credit cards for use by travellers. It is the world’s largest foreign exchange bureau.

Points of note

We relocated Travelex from their previous cramped and tired environment into something that reflects their brand positioning as a professional service provider to a worldwide customer base.

The concept we have created for Travelex is based on a collection of spaces which have the ability to flex and change; making way for teams and spaces to adapt over time whilst retaining a sense of excitement and dynamism. We have broken down silos and created adjacencies between different teams and departments; a range of impromptu collaborative working areas are positioned throughout the office to help create a more holistic and synergistic working environment.

Travelex’s new office is a new inspirational space which allows for innovative, creative thinking which is aligned behind their customers and corporate branding. Bright, bold graphics are positioned throughout the space with particular emphasis on the front-of house  reception area.  The centre-point of the office is a ‘market-place’ breakout space with in-house coffee bar and informal meeting space which provides a fresh social space. We also amalgamated wall graphics and neon signage into the design to help create a more informal, funky atmosphere away from the main office space.

Travelex wished to use the relocation of its head office functions as part of a larger cultural change programme that supports the development of its brand and values and provides a cutting edge, digital environment that enhances its business objectives and its people. A key element of this was the move away from cellular space and the introduction of a wholly open-plan working environment.
