RSSB

Client Background

RSSB (Rail Safety Standards Board) was established in April 2003.

The company’s primary objective is to facilitate the railway industry’s work to achieve continuous improvement in the health and safety performance of the railways in Great Britain, and thus to facilitate the reduction of risk to passengers, employees and the affected public.

Points of note

The new office is located at Angel Square, Islington and is spread across three floors. Central to the office design and fit-out brief was ‘promoting communication’ and this was facilitated with a large meeting suite for visitors on the third floor and a centrally located ‘hub’ for the business to come together and interact on the second floor.

This office design and fit-out project was designed on Green & Sustainable principles where costs and benefits were measured against the term of the lease. The project was externally audited for a BREEAM assessment.

“We are particularly pleased with the result of our recently completed fit-out. The initial meetings during the design process were informative, progressive and we felt that Maris were listening to us and understood our requirements. The team worked with us to achieve an optimum design within budget. During the construction phase, in particular, it was the professionalism and commitment of the construction team that turned the project into the huge success it is.”
