McArthurGlen UK Ltd

Client Background

McArthurGlen is Europe’s leading owner, developer and manager of Designer Outlets. Kaempfer Partners founded McArthurGlen Designer Outlets in Europe in 1993; pioneering the concept of designer outlet retailing, with the opening of the region’s first designer outlet in 1995.

Their centres are home to the most sought-after luxury, designer and high-street brands, internationally and nationally.

Points of note

The new office for McArthurGlen has been designed with a new focus on human interaction in mind. By removing partitions and creating breakout spaces for staff and visitors it creates a new focus on human gathering.

The space wraps itself around a series of key areas designed with art in mind, to create ‘moments’ of interest’ for the viewer, visitor and staff alike. The integration of significant art pieces throughout the space creates landmarks within the office. Lighting and materials are selected to complement the art, with the interior architecture making way to integrate them into the space.

The feature stair presents a dynamic and beautiful icon as soon as the visitor enters the space on 3rd floor. The structure penetrates the floors, allowing light through the space, as well as better and more fluid access between the floors, helping to unify the office as it expands onto two levels.
